Sevilla with Kids: a road trip through Andalusia
Day 1: Sunday – Welcome to Seville!
Our Andalusian adventure began in the heart of Seville. After an easy morning arrival, we kicked off our trip with breakfast at a quaint café in the perfect square. This was a great way to start off our trip.
After checking into our apart-hotel, we took a little rest before heading out to visit the Cathedral and the Giralda Tower. Climbing the Giralda with the kids was a fun challenge, rewarded by stunning views of the city. We also enjoyed the serene Patio de los Naranjos.
Next, we wandered to Café Alfalfa for lunch. This charming bar offers delicious tapas that everyone enjoyed. We headed to the enchanting Plaza de España and the lush Parque de María Luisa. The kids had a blast exploring the park’s winding paths and fountains.
We ended our day with some Sangria at Taverna Alvaro Peregil, followed by a traditional meal at El Rinconcillo, one of Seville’s oldest bar, where we ate a traditional Andalusian meal with wine.
Day 2: Monday Culinary Delights and Historical Wonders
Our second day started bright and early with breakfast at El Comercio, the oldest bar in Seville. The kids loved the churros and hot chocolate, a perfect start to our day.
We then took a leisurely river walk through the historic Triana district, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and beautiful views. The highlight of the morning was the Triana Market Tour and Cooking Class from 10:30 am to 2:00 pm. It was a hands-on experience that the whole family enjoyed, especially making traditional Spanish dishes together. I highly recommend!!
After a brief hotel break, we headed to the magnificent Alcazar at 4pm. The kids were fascinated by the palace and I loved the intricate designs. It felt like we had stepped into a fairy tale.
Dinner was another round of tapas at Casa Hijos de E. Morales Garcia, followed by a fun evening at El Garlochi bar in the Alfalfa quarter. For dessert, we treated ourselves to Dulces de Conventos from the San Leandro Convent.
We finished the day visiting Las Setas de Sevilla, an architectural marvel in the middle of the city. We were in awe of the mushroom-like structure and loved the amazing sunset of Sevilla.
Day 3: Tuesday – Exploring Hidden Gems
Today was a more relaxed day. We explored the heart of Seville’s old town, starting with the Calle San Laureano and discovering the remnants of the Puerta Real, a gateway from the Muslim era. The historical journey continued as we visited the Chapel of Our Lady of Mercy and the Museum of Fine Arts in a 13th-century convent.
In the evening, we dined at El Disparate in Plaza Alameda de Hércules, savoring creative dishes in a lively setting.
Day 4: Wednesday – Granada’s Rich Heritage
We journeyed to Granada today, checking into our hotel before heading to the breathtaking Alhambra Nasrid Palace, where the intricate Moorish architecture left us all spellbound.
The evening was spent wandering around the picturesque Albaicín district and had dinner while watching a flamenco show at Flamenco Granada - Tablao Jardines de Zoraya
Other places I wished we had time to visit:
- Tea at La Tetería del Bañuelo
- Museo Cueva de Sacromonte
-
Alcaiceria Market - Bib-Rambla Square
Day 5: Thursday - Adventure at Caminito del Rey and Ronda
Our adventure continued with a thrilling hike along the Caminito del Rey at 10:20 am. The kids enjoyed the spectacular views and the sense of adventure as we navigated the walkway.
We arrived in Ronda for the night, where we dined at Restaurant Bardel at 8 pm, enjoying the 1 star Michelin and the town’s romantic atmosphere.
Day 6: Friday – Returning to Seville
After exploring more of Ronda in the morning, we returned to Seville visiting the beautiful green scenery and beautiful white cities (Setenil de las Bodegas, Olvera) along the way.
Day 7: Saturday – Revisiting Favorites in Sevilla
We revisited some of our favorite spots today, starting with Plaza de España and Parque de María Luisa. The kids enjoyed the park’s playgrounds and the chance to run around. Then we went on a long walk to visit the aquarium.
Day 8: Sunday – Farewell to Seville
Our last day. We packed our bags and enjoyed one final breakfast before heading to the airport. Seville and the surrounding regions had given us countless memories and a wonderful family adventure.
Until next time, Andalusia!
